The stock 1.4 is pretty stout when properly maintained, you run premium, and replace the factory plastic coolant components, but there are a variety of factors can lead to chipping pistons, burning valves, wearing out guides, and just "blowing up", even in stock form. You can try to alleviate various stressors by using good quality gas (or E85) and colder spark plugs, but sometimes the previous owners abuse can cause you to have to replace your engine. Our ZZP forged rods and pistons are rated at a much higher horsepower and torque levels than the factory components, and can easily withstand the abuse from a larger than factory turbocharger.
This is our forged 1.4 LUJ and LUV engine. We start with a core 1.4 engine; re-surface the block, bore & hone the cylinders using a torque plate, we then add our ZZP 4340 rods, 1mm oversized Diamond forged pistons, ZZP head studs, ZZP timing guides, new timing chain kit, GM bearings, gaskets and seals. We install a new head, ZZP 72# valve springs and titanium retainers, install all parts ordered along with it, measure, set ring gap, and time your engine before it goes out the door. What you will receive is a freshly assembled engine that will be able to take the extra power you may want to throw at it, and be much more reliable than the stock engine.
Our ZZP forged long block does not include injectors, intake manifold, turbo, starter, and various accessories like AC compressor. We highly recommend replacing your factory intake manifold after an engine failure, the intake manifold has long runners and can hold onto pieces of the old engines materials that could lead to a future failure even after cleaning; we offer a new GM ported intake manifold here.
How to purchase:
Camshafts/Valve Springs: We have 2 options for cams on our ZZP forged long block. ZZP Stage 1 Cam and ZZP valve springs; this will include our more aggressive intake camshaft, relocate the stock intake cam to the exhaust side, and ZZP 72# valve springs & Titanium Retainers.
Freight Shipping: You can either pick it up from our location, or add on Freight shipping to a business or residence.
Important break in procedure:
We recommend running Driven "break in" oil for the first 200 miles, you will need 6 quarts. Before you start the car with the new engine, we recommend that you fill with oil, then leave the injector harness unplugged and turn engine over until the oil pressure light goes out, or even better, use an oil pressure gauge. This ensures that you are starting the engine with full oil pressure.
When the engine is running in gear and at light throttle, bring it up to 4500 rpm, then coast down to near idle(still in gear), then 5000, then 5500, then 6000, and 6500 each time letting it coast down to idle. This will help seat the rings. Then after a couple heat cycles, start running it under power.
Note: Warranty for this product includes a 1 year manufacturer's defect warranty. If a part fails you must reach out to us, remove the part, then send it back to us for inspection once an RMA (return merchandise authorization) is sent.
